Move Minnesota is looking for people with positivity and a passion for our mission to join our board of directors!
Move Minnesota is seeking board members to serve two-year terms beginning January 2025. Board members make a difference at Move Minnesota: their leadership helps ensure our vision, values, and our commitment to equity are lived out in daily work, and that our programming is mission-driven and effective. We invite all interested parties to apply, as the application process is focused on helping applicants and Move Minnesota determine fit.
Board members work collaboratively with other members, the executive director, and key finance and fundraising staff members. They are expected to proactively contribute in ways that match their interests, abilities, talents, and connections.
A strong candidate for board service will bring:
- Excitement for and familiarity with Move Minnesota’s mission and work, and commitment to the organization’s success
- A philanthropic mindset and willingness to leverage their networks and connections to contribute to the organization’s fundraising success, including their own personal giving
- The capacity to consistently give time board meetings, committee service, and organizational events, including time spent preparing for meetings and deepening connections to the organization’s work
- Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills, with sector experience and accomplishments in finance, advocacy, philanthropy, lobbying, law, or other areas consistent with organizational needs
- Lived experience using sustainable transportation, especially as a transit rider that reflects one of the many constituencies disproportionately served by Metro Transit and other transit systems (Black, Indigenous, person of color, person with a disability, non-driver, etc)
Board terms can be renewed up to a maximum of 6 years of service. The time commitment for membership is approximately 6-10 hours per month on board, committee, and fundraising related duties, with board leadership taking on additional responsibilities to contribute to the organization’s success. Board meetings are typically on Wednesdays.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume to elissas@movemn.org by November 15, 2024. The letter of interest should speak to why you are interested in serving on the board, and what skills and experience will contribute to your service.
